FRED EAGLESMITH’S ROUTE 66 TIN CAN CARAVAN
What happens when one of North America’s most heralded and adventurous rock songwriters hits the continent’s iconic and eclectic Route 66 for a two-week-plus marriage of hits and kitsch? Ticketholders for the 2012 Route 66 Tin Can Caravan will find out as the Fred Eaglesmith Band headlines the 18-day Chicago-to-Santa Monica journey. DETAILS AND TOUR DATES…
Full-ride attendees will enjoy a wi-fi equipped motor coach across the legendary road’s full expanse, or can choose from individual segments within the Sept. 13 to Sept. 30 itinerary. Throughout, the tour will be followed by a caravan of cars, campers, bikes and vans. All will be visiting some of Route 66′s colorful attractions and enjoying performances along the way from one of the most storied traveling musicians in contemporary music.
Eaglesmith’s road exploits have a mythical air to them, from his nearly superhuman touring pace to prior excursions on road and rail. All will pale, however, in comparison to “Fred’s Ultimate Road Trip.” For details, visit http://www.rootsontherails.com/2012-trips-route-66-tin-can-caravan.
As the Arizona Daily Star said recently of Eaglesmith, “Everywhere he goes these days, concerts are sold out and his merchandise flies off tables.” The fervor certainly extends to his latest album 6 Volts, his 19th, which was recently called “one of our favorite albums of the year” by No Depression. And that’s just a taste of the acclaim it’s been receiving:
• “Fred Eaglesmith’s latest release 6 Volts is rapidly becoming our most played disk since we scored a copy” -Houston Press
• “The music is pure emotion with hurting steel guitar and tortured guitar solos on ‘Johnny Cash.’” -Lethbridge L.A. Beat Magazine
• “In the songs on 6 Volts, you know Fred really means it. He ain’t quitting anytime soon. Thank something for that.” -Stylus Magazine
• “Eaglesmith, a prolific songwriter and recording artist who can make audiences think and laugh, is on the endless highway with 6 Volts, a plain, simple and powerful CD (his 19th) that salutes his roots and the music he grew up with” -San Antonio Express
• “It’s a powerful piece of work… There’s a raw energy in tracks such as ‘Betty’ and the title track, where the lead guitar slices into the foreground and electrifies the room.” -Atlanta Journal Constitution
